But I'm hoping you'll read on and try this out in order to avoid wasting time with store visits when all they're going to do is frustrate you by being unable as help find your size.

Shoe sizing is a complicated subject on its own, but with this method you'll never have to hear how your size is out of date again!

Today, we're going to use the model Katarina as she's working perfectly in each of these sizes. She's 4 years old and has always worn a size 6 shoe. Katarina lives in the UK, and all shoes sold in the UK come in UK sizes.

We're also going to pretend that shoe manufacturers are very, very good at creating shoes that fit any foot shape -

even someone as unique as Katarina's! And we're going to assume that I have some special magic powers that I can make those shoes fit exactly my model's feet.

Well, actually, I do have special magic powers. I can use my computer to make 3D models that look and act just like the real thing. And since I can do that, I'm going to shoot a few pictures of Katarina's feet walking around in her correctly sized shoes.

Look at this pair of size 6 shoes - they're a tiny bit too big for Katarina, but you'll be able to see how well the way I've modeled them matches her feet. Look at how the shoe curls slightly where her toes are supposed to go.

Here's a slightly better view of the same shoes - now you can see that they're a tiny bit too big for her. If Katarina was

wearing these, she'd have a tiny bit of wiggle room in the toe area. Nothing major, but it would be noticeable and uncomfortable.

And finally here is the same shoe, sized down to fit her perfectly and looking great! The toes are nice and snug, but not crammed in and she could even wear these on a run if she wanted to. Let's look at another pair of shoes, this time size 4:

Again we have them slightly too big, then custom fit by me. Again, you'll notice how well the model matches Katarina's feet - no matter what size I make them, they will always look like they're a perfect fit for her.
You can also see that there is an extra bit of fabric between her big toe and the end of the shoe, which is pointing out because she's got her toes pushed together.

Again, this would be very uncomfortable for Katarina as it would hit her foot uncomfortably when she walked.
